Ken’s Foods is a family-owned company with a strong track record of continuous brand growth.  The Retail Marketing function is housed within the broader Sales team, with the Brand Manager reporting to the Director of Retail Marketing.

 

The Brand Manager is expected to be the foremost expert and advocate for the brand, tying together mastery of the business and category metrics with a strong ability to articulate the brand’s objectives and priorities to senior audiences, both internal and external. 

 

The successful candidate will have held a prior role in Brand Management and be well-versed in interpreting the IRI data set that is critical to performance measurement.  Though the Brand Manager will take responsibility for the development of our outbound consumer communications, this is not solely a marketing role.  A general manager’s approach with willingness to take ownership of all facets of the business – marketing, operational, financial – is critical.  The role will require an understanding of the consumer dynamic within the CPG industry, but equally important, the customer dynamic as well, including Trade management and merchandising initiatives.  The Brand Manager will work independently, with limited administrative support, within a small team of senior leaders to achieve our aggressive growth objectives.

 

This role encompasses a large range of functions, spanning from administrative tasks to the highest level of collaborative strategy development with senior leadership.  Among the tasks encompassed within the role:

  • Deliver against brand sales and profit targets.
  • Own the business analytics function and serve as internal “go-to” for all brand performance monitoring.
  • Core brand liaison to a team of Region Sales Managers, supporting them with the analysis and insights critical to our ongoing merchandising initiatives.
    • Be the subject matter expert, providing analytics and marketing/consumer/category expertise to category/line reviews and inquiries.
  • Primary relationship owner with strategic agency, vendor and other partners:
    • Planning and execution of continuous social/digital marketing campaigns and tactics with agency partners.
    • Liaise with professional sports franchise business partners and brand license partners.
  • Lead cross functional teams for various brand projects and initiatives, including new product development, packaging changes and product modifications.
  • Brand forecasting; communication with Operations/Logistics teams to facilitate product availability, including seasonal display-ready packaging formats.
  • Brand budget development and management.
  • Occasional overnight travel required, up to 20%, as meetings may require.
    • Infrequent weekend travel required to facilitate monitoring of field marketing events.
  • The role may expand or change based on organizational requirements and/or acquisitions.

 

 Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Business Administration, Marketing or related field from four-year college or university; MBA preferred
  • Years of relevant experience:  5-10 years within the CPG industry experiences.
